Indiana on My Mind

June 11th, 2018

It's been a very busy two weeks, some good, some bad.  Two weeks ago, I had put everything on hold as I was frantically trying to finish up a paper that I would be presenting in Munich.  Then I received word of a medical and care crisis that my parents were in, precipitated by a fall and a trip to the hospital.  (Thank goodness for my sister and brother in Indiana---they have been doing the heavy lifting, leaving my sister in Boston and me to provide some long-distance research and support.)  In the meantime, the trip to Munich happened.  Luckily, the paper got finished in time and the presentation went very well, and we also had a wonderful visit in the two days before the conference.

Then, two different groups of visitors arrived the day after our return.  (One visitor is our longtime housekeeper Annette.  She is nearing 80 and has never been out of the US, so we were very happy to be able to give her the opportunity to visit France.  As you might imagine, though, she is not entirely independent, and juggling everything has been a little crazy.)  And then, just to add to the chaos, Kate's birthday was last Thursday (celebrated yesterday instead because we couldn't fit it in before) and Glenn ran his first roadrace yesterday.

The next few weeks will continue to be very full, as we welcome several more visitors, I try to whittle down my backlog at work, we fit in a number of end-of-year activities, and I continue to help with my parents as possible.  Yet at the same time, I would love to document our trip to Munich, activities with our visitors this past weekend, Glenn's race, and other thoughts here.  I'll do what I can over the next several days, but for now I want to post some photos I have taken on visits to Indiana, mostly at my parents' farm, over the last few years.  These are in addition to the photos I posted after my January visit to the farm.  Just had these people and places and memories on my mind a lot lately.
